About Pete Ekstrom
Peter C. Ekstrom Peter is a prolific sales hunter with over 25 years experience selling to the top executives that work for America's largest companies. Peter started his sales career by selling long distance telecommunications services for Starnet Corporation (a division of Ford Aerospace & Communications). Following his success with Starnet, Peter joined Comvestrix Corporation as a district sales manager selling computer output services to the financial services and insurance industries. Peter's sales achievements earned him the company's President's Club award after closing a new $250,000 sale to Chase Manhattan Bank. In April 1992, Peter successfully raised $1 million in venture capital to start a company called Patrina Corporation. Patrina is an electronic data archiving service for the securities trading back office. During his tenure with Patrina, Peter successfully brought in several new customers, including a multi-million dollar contract to archive the daily sales reports for the New York Stock Exchange. Following Patrina, Peter was a sales director for Xpedite Systems, and was responsible for starting up the new Long Island sales office. Peter worked for Xpedite during a period of unprecedented growth , and participated in helping the company grow into a publicly held $150 million dollar company. During the late 1990s, Peter sold call center technology, and managed major accounts for Nice Systems and Dictaphone Corporation. During his time with Nice Systems, Peter helped launch new product sales of a facsimile recording solution called Nicefax, and successfully closed new sales of Nicefax to several large Wall Street firms including, Paine Webber, Cowen & Co., Kleinwort Benson, Neuberger & Berman, and Oppenheimer Funds. As for his time with Dictaphone, Peter consistently led the Northeast region for sales of Dictaphone's CRM and voice recording solutions, and closed million dollar sales to Metlife, Merrill Lynch, and Prudential Insurance. In 2002, Peter founded a sales consulting firm called Dealbuilders. As 'chief dealbuilder', Peter makes personal introductions to executive buyers on behalf of his clients, and delivers the business development resources they need to accelerate the growth of new business. In 2005, Peter authored the Gold Call Training and the Gold Call Club selling skills development programs, and is currently teaching salespeople the fine art of prospecting over the telephone. Peter is the current vice president of public relations for the Northrop Grumman chapter of Toastmasters International, and has earned his advanced Toastmasters certification. Peter has been a regular contestant in the annual Toastmasters speech giving contests, and has won 12 separate public speaking awards. Peter is also an active member of the Long Island Speakers Bureau, and volunteers his time by speaking to high school students on topics related to business entrepreneurship, and career development. When he is not prospecting, or volunteering, Peter records voice over narration for radio and television broadcasts. Peter holds an Associate in Arts degree from Nassau Community College, and was a medical technology and sociology major when he attended the University of Tampa. Peter also holds an MBA and Phd. from the 'School of Hard Knocks'.
